At first, capoeira was played in casual, everyday clothes - shorts, shirts and more often barefoot. Sometimes at the gangways there were capoeiristas with working but again informal clothes. Only at exhibitions, the players wore more elaborate dresses like a white linen suite. Despite the acrobatic and the other moves performed close to the ground, only hands and legs were allowed to touch it. Thus, the players usually got out of the game clean and with hat on the head.

Nowadays, the capoeira equipment is a must. Most of the clothes are produced in Brazil and exported to the capoeira stores abroad or provided by the capoeira academy itself. The material used for the clothes is very specific, however very comfortable - many want to wear their capoeira clothes in their everyday life. The capoeira uniform consists of:

2. Capoeira Tops

The capoeira tops are usually white and having the logo of the capoeira school. They could be cotton or synthetic, short sleeves or tank tops.  Also, the capoeirista may prefer to take off the t-shirt and play topless.

3. Capoeira Cords

4. Capoeira Shoes (Barefoots)

It is only up to the capoeirista to decide how to play capoeira - with shoes or barefoot. In any case, having your feet in comfortable shoes is a way better.
