Headbutts – targeted strike with the head

Arpão de Cabeça

In Portuguese, arpão de cabeça means “harpoon head”. This type of head-butt is more violent than cabeçada and very traumatic. Usually the capoerista using his full force of the body targets whether the head, stomach, or groin.

Translated literally cabeçada means “head-butt”. This is an offensive technique where the attacking capoerista pushes the other one with his head or forehead.

The escorumelo (Close Support) is a name that is sometimes given to the rising Cabeçada (from a low position towards the chin of the opponent).
